Christmas Banner

Been busy today working on my flags for a Christmas Banner swap. My theme was Vintage Snowmen. When I started looking I found that they are a scary lot!!!! Certainly not the cheery character we feature at this time of year. There was even one that was chasing a terrified child with a big stick! Here are some of my flags - I was rather proud of them in the end.

Scrapbooking and More!

This week I have been working on a scrapbook I have been making of events since we moved last January. Such a lot has happened since then. One of the big events was the conversion of a freezing cold partly converted garage into our 'toy room'. In other words my craft room and Mervyn's computer room. This is the page in my scrapbook of the conversion!!!

I've also been making atcs for Ali's swap of Lord Leighton's Ladies. I enjoyed making these and am quite pleased with them.

Altered Book

Been busy today working on Heather's Altered Book for UKATC. Enjoyed this a lot as the theme 'Flights of Imagination' gave me lots of scope! It included atcs one of which I've shown here!

Wednesday 14 July 2010

It has been a busy week really - getting ready for 'Jack the Ripper' which begins tonight. Jenny, my daughter, and Mervyn, my husband, are in leading roles and their performances have been thrilling everyone! I've had time for some crafting though. Yesterday I made my atcs for the UKATC Medieaval Swap in August - just fancied doing them although it is a long time in advance.

Something different!

Just thought I'd write about something different today! For many years now I have been involved with an amateur drama group in Newton-le-Willows. This has taken up a lot of my time when I've not been working and crafting!!! For many years I made costumes and performed on stage in plays. I cannot sing or dance so avoid musicals but sometimes have a go in a pantomime!!! This year our society and the Lowton society are combining to produce a musical called 'Jack the Ripper'. It is to be performed at Lowton Civic Hall from 14th to 17th July this year. My husband, Mervyn, and daughter, Jenny, have big roles and I am very proud of them both! I will be helping front of house.

Ali's new group!

I've been very busy the last few days making my first offerings for Alison Brandist's new atc group - vintageatcuk. It promises to be a brillliant group with lots of interesting swaps on a vintage theme. Ali has made me a moderator on the group to help out if she is offline for any reason and maybe to host some swaps - will have to put my thinking cap on here!!!! Above are some of my offerings for Ali - 1920s and 1930s songs and vintage geishas!

Gardening

Been busy today. Morning spent on housework - ugg! After lunch spent a long time in the garden - with being away last week the weeds had grown. It is lookiing beautiful with new things coming into bloom every day. The vegetables are doing well - we ate our own radish yesterday and today I planted the courgettes. Shallots, garlic, lettuce and rocket all growing well.
Evening was spent on making hydrangea atcs for UKATC. I've made six! Now to choose which ones to send to Hope.

Ireland

On Saturday we returned from a week in Ireland at a beautiful thatched cottage above Portally Cove on the south coast near Dunmore East. Jenny and Steve gave us the holiday for out 60th birthdays - WOW!!! They came as well and the four of us had a lovely quiet week spent mostly down at the cove where we 'bodged' for sea glass and Steve swam and explored caves.
It was a steep walk down to the cove and even steeper up on the other side to walk along the cliff top to Dunmore East - got used to doing it though!!!

ATCs

Above are copper atcs for UKATC - backgrounds from the internet. The first atc has punched copper coloured daisies and sewn on copper beads, the second has strips of Cuttlebugged copper metallic paper with copper ebads sewn on to compliment the background. In the third atc I used a Martha Stewart punch to decorate strips of copper metallic papaer - I also added beads and some copper peel off strip.
To the left are my Paris atcs - again thanks to the internet and some stamps I had of France. I found these hard to do but am quite pleased with the results!

These are my foxglove atcs for the Flower of the Month exchange on UKATC. I enjoyed making these - they are based on images from the internet as I had no foxglove images in my crafting stash!!
